Announcements June 20-25: WODS are posted below!

OK, all you crazy CrossFit Fanatics, are you ready for the 2011 CROSSFIT GAMES?  Do you know anything about them?  Well, it's like the Olympics of CrossFit!  But even better because you will be witnessing amazing athletes competing to see who are the fittest people on earth.  Last year, Joshua and I were glued to the computer for the live web cast over the coarse of 3 days.  It was very exciting!  This year we decided to make our anniversary gift to each other a trip to the CF Games!  We have been dying to go for years!!!    The Games are July 29-31 in LA.  You will be able to view them live on the web cast this year also!

To get us all in the spirit of this amazing event, I thought we would do something a little different over the next few weeks.  We won't be following the HQ site as strictly for this reason.  If you are really wanting to do some WODS that I skip, come in on "open gym" times.  (FRAN will be posted week 2 from the 2008 CF Games wods!  I was confused on the year they did it!)

The annual CF Games started in 2007.  So for the next 4 weeks we are going to focus 1 week for each year that the games have been in session.  I will give you some CF Games history for that year and we will be doing a lot of the wods that were performed that year.  The "history" is going to be scanned from the 2009 and 2010 Games books that I have.  I will bring them to the gym if you would like to look through them more.  You can also find tons of info and video on the HQ website.  When you find something good, do share with the rest of us!  Post on our FACEBOOK page: CrossFit Downtown Augusta.

The last week before the CF Games, July 18-23, we will have a little friendly competition (if you choose) of our own!  And of coarse an OUTING to celebrate!

The article below is from the 2010 CROSSFIT GAMES BOOK.

The Metro Dash in Charlotte was awesome this weekend!    There is nothing like 95* weather on black asphalt to race on!  Steve did awesome in the THOR'S CUP competition!  He took 2nd by only 0.4 seconds!  Then Jessica, Rachel, Kristen and Julie completed the coarse in 12:27.   It turns out that the guys were very jealous of our team shirts!   As soon as we got done, we were ordered to strip off our jerseys.  Now they all know what "compression tanks" are really all about!   Shane, Rob, Mickey and Steve rocked the race in 8 min.  You can see all of the pictures on the CrossFit Downtown Facebook page.  If anyone is interested in competing in the
Metro Dash in Atlanta it is on June 25th.
Check out the website and sign up!
